Following the administration reform in 1999, Poland has been divided into 16 regions - voivodships (in Polish - wojewodztwo), 373 poviats (county-level governments) and urban gminas endowed with poviat rights (larger towns) and 2489 gminas. The voivodships draw up and implement regional development strategies, which include international economic relations.
