Paratext Adds Millions More Full-Text Links

 

Paratext (www.paratext.com), an independent information company serving the global library market, has added more than 12 million links from its core research products-19th Century Masterfile (NCM) and Public Documents Masterfile (PDM)-to full-text resources, many in the public domain. These links, which will be fulfilled through Google Book Search and Google News Archive Search, include more than 1 million links to documents in The New York Times'archive.

These sites and technologies offer new ways for library staff and users to communicate and collaborate.

Europeana Tops 5 Million Items

  Europeana’s collection of online European heritage passed the 5 million mark in early December, taking the multilingual digital library, museum and archive over halfway to its target of 10 million searchable items in 2010.

The Smithsonian Collections Search Center

  The Smithsonian Collections Search Center is developing into a one-stop-searching center for the public for collections held in the Institution’s Libraries, Archives and Museum collections. This fast growing Collections Search Center is hosted by the Institution’s Office of the Chief Information Officer, and currently contains 2.3 million records with 280,000 online media such as images, sound files, videos, and online collections.

State of the Union 2.0

  When President Obama walks into the Capitol on Wednesday to deliver his State of the Union speech, millions of American viewers will tune in. From our live webstream to a free iPhone app, the White House is using technology to make sure the President's State of the Union Address reaches as many people as possible. After the President's speech begins this Wednesday (1/27) at 9pm EST, anyone will be able to submit a follow-up question and vote on others at YouTube.com/CitizenTube. Then next week, the President will answer questions in a special online event, live from the White House.
