EBSCO Publishing Makes Footnote.com Available to Libraries

 

EBSCO Publishing (www.ebscohost.com) and Footnote have announced a distribution deal making EBSCO the exclusive worldwide distributor of Footnote.com for libraries and institutions. Footnote.com combines original historical documents and personal histories, creating a unique historical and genealogical resource.

  Gale Launches Archival Slavery Reference Source

 

Gale (www.gale.com), a part of Cengage Learning (www.cengage.com), introduced a new electronic resource offering an archive that chronicles slavery dating from the 16th century through the early 20th century. Slavery and Anti-Slavery: A Transnational Archive, represents the first large-scale database to make available historical books, manuscripts, newspapers, periodicals, court records, and other sources in one cross-searchable location.
 

 

LC Makes Cataloging Service Bulletin Free Online

  The Library of Congress is making available to the worldwide library community free online access to the entire 31 years of the Cataloging Service Bulletin (CSB). The bulletin can be viewed at www.loc.gov/cds/PDFdownloads/csb.
 
 

United States Treaties

  Treaty Affairs website includes the 2009 edition of the United States Treaties-in-Force, treaties pending in the U.S. Senate, multilateral treaties for which the U.S. is the depository, the Treaties and Other International Act Series (T.I.A.S.) which contains the full-text of treaties from 1996-1999, and treaty actions from 1997 to the present. The full-text of agreements submitted to Congress under the Case Act are also found at this website. Thomas a product of the Library of Congress, provides information on the legislative actions of U.S. treaties back to 1967. It is a searchable database with the full-text of treaties from 1997 to the present. This is a good resource for treaties currently ratified by Congress.
 
 

Chronicling America: Historic America Newspapers

  If you've ever dreamed of reading the January 2, 1900 edition of Paris, Kentucky's "Bourbon News", this site will offer a form of wish fulfillment. This newspaper (and many others) are part of the Chronicling America website, which was produced by the National Digital Newspaper Program. In the "View" section of the site, visitors can view a range of newspapers from 1880 to 1910 from ten different states.
