Greetings from Krakow!

November is a special month for Americans and Poles alike. We share a holiday, November 11, when Poland’s independence was restored and Americans honor the veterans who have preserved our freedoms. In Poland, of course, the month is started with All Saints Day, a time to visit with family and remember the past, while Americans finish November with our own day of family gatherings and reflection, Thanksgiving Day.

Among the many activities, the Consulate has planned for the next month, I would like to call your attention especially to the concert by an Air Force Band quartet at the Krakow School for the Blind. I had the chance to visit with these remarkable students last month as the Consulate made a gift of books to replace those destroyed during last spring’s floods. The Consulate community also raised money that the school can use to fulfill its mission to help these children. I urge you during this month of reflection to join us at the school to learn about their important work.

Sincerely,
Allen Greenberg
Consul General
