Partnership for Democracy Workshop for Ukrainian Journalists

The U.S. Consulate's Partnership for Democracy program will host another workshop for Ukrainian journalists on May 18-20 in Krakow. "Modern Management of Culture" will include visits to new cultural institutions in Krakow and tours and discussions about the changes which have occurred over the last 16 years during Poland's post-communist transformation.

The Ukrainian journalists will get to know the process of revitalization of such quarters as the Jewish Kazimierz quarter and the industrial district of Nowa Huta where the post-industrial areas serve as tourist attractions and venues for significant artistic events. They will also see interactive exhibits and experience events such as "Krakow Museum Night" in Krakow. Polish and American speakers will share their knowledge about funding, private/public partnerships and corporate responsibility regarding the development and management of culture and the arts.

The workshop will conclude with a roundtable discussion between Polish and Ukrainian journalists in the "Gazeta Krakowska" headquarters about culture in an internet era and the new, innovative ways of communicating with audiences.
