June Jordan: Writing War, Writing Memory Jane Creighton, Associate Professor of English at the University of Houston-Downtown in Houston, Texas, writer and Fulbright Fellow currently teaching at the Jagiellonian University in the Institute for English Philology, will give a lecture on June Jordan, an African-American poet, writer and political activist on Tuesday, March 6 at 7:00 p.m. at Massolit Books, ul. Felicjanek 4 in Krakow. June Jordan was the author of 28 collections of poetry, essays, and fiction. She was a regular columnist for The Progressive, whose articles appeared in The Village Voice, the New York Times, Ms., Essence, the American Poetry Review, The Nation, and many other periodicals. On March 15 Ambassador Victor Ashe will open an "American West" photographic exhibit in the Ruda ¦l±ska Cultural Center located at ul. Niedurnego 69. After the opening, the Ambassador will participate in an event celebrating the conclusion of American Days in Ruda Slaska highlighting African American month and Martin Luther King's role in the civil rights struggle. Together with the city mayor, Ambassador Ashe will hand awards to the winners in a number of contests inspired by Martin Luther King's "I have a dream…" speech. |

Lecture on Transatlantic Relations On March 26-28 one of US leading experts on transatlantic relations will be coming to Krakow and Wroc³aw with a series of lectures for Polish students of Political Science, International Relations and European and American Studies. Roy H.Ginsberg, Professor of Government at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs will also meet with a group of 20 Ukrainian journalists at the Wroc³aw American Corner, where he will discuss "The Future of Europe and Transatlantic Relations". |

Partnership for Democracy Study Tour On March 28-30, another study tour for Ukrainian journalists will be held, this time in Wroclaw. Within the the "Partnership for Democracy" project co-sponsored by the US Consulate General in Krakow, 20 journalists from across Ukraine will attend meetings and discussions focusing on Wroclaw as a city of success. They will meet and conduct interviews with the city leadership, university rectors and some of the investors that decided to choose Wroclaw as the best location for their companies. | ||
