International Education Week

The Polish-U.S. Fulbright Commission and the United States Consulate General in Krakow celebrated International Education Week by co-organizing a two-day seminar "Polish - U.S. Academic Cooperation Perspectives after EU Accession " November 15-16, 2004.

It brought together university officials and directors of foreign relations offices seeking opportunities to strengthen and develop exchange and research projects with American universities. The U.S. Consul General in Krakow, Kenneth Fairfax, gave a presentation on current developments in American educational policy and the role of international exchange programs.

During the panel on Polish - U.S. Academic Partnership Programs, five Fulbright scholars discussed the most effective ways of making sustainable exchange agreements with American partners. The Consulate also hosted a videoconference for the participants with a U.S. credential evaluation specialist from Washington, Mary Beth Sowa, on "Professional Certification and Licensing in the U.S."

In addition there were two "Education USA" seminars for prospective students in Krakow and Rzeszow during which representatives of the Fulbright Commission and the Consulate discussed system of higher education in the U.S., the application procedures, financial issues and student visa applications.
