On September 12th – 13th a New York City firefighter, Steve Krakower, participated in various events commemorating September 11 attacks in Krakow, Katowice, Myslowice, Kroscienko and Szczawnica. Mr Krakower has worked for New York Fire Department (FDNY) for 20 years. He currently co-ordinates information flow between the New York City Fire Department and the federal and local governments.

On September 12th Steve Krakower met with the participants of a Crisis Management Forum as well as of the Poland-America-Ukraine Cooperation Initiative meeting. Joined by his FDNY colleagues - John Szczech and Richard Matuszewski - Mr Krakower visited the Central Firefighting Museum in Myslowice and met with a firefighting brigade from Katowice. NY firefighters were also hosted by the governor of Silesia.

On September 13th the firefighters met with US Consul General in Krakow, Siria Lopez, and Consulate’s American officers. Later at Krakow Firefighting School they talked about the rescue mission in World Trade Center and their own experiences. Steve Krakower then left Krakow to meet with firefighting brigades in Szczawnica and Kroscienko.
